So fun fact about me - I ❤️ miniatures! I loved doll houses as a kid - the kind that were so intricate and detailed (Ok, ok, I also loved Barbie’s dream home lol). Needless to say, this Marie Kondo Mini by @thecraftymillennial has me swooning on this rainy day! #Repost @dailymini with @get_repost

the life-changing magic of tidying up by marie kondo by @thecraftymillennial. 📖
May the odds be ever in your favour.
Sometimes the little spaces make the biggest difference! This utensil drawer was a pain for the client (and a classic “I can’t find it so I bought another”). We removed everything, separated by category, then chose the best of every category to keep. Some items (like the strainer) found better homes, and when the rest of the kitchen is done, more will be removed. The goal was to easily put your hands on the utensil the client wanted, and to make it easier to take things out and put them away.
Seems like everyone is watching @mariekondo on @netflixca?! What does everyone think?!
I’ve been working on taming my paper beast so this post by @cleanmama caught my eye - super practical approach by taking small steps toward a bigger goal. And if you want to follow an account for amazing cleaning tips, she’s your gal! #Repost @cleanmama with @get_repost

This isn’t a pretty picture but it equals progress in the Clutter Challenge. This is my shred pile from my office from 2018 - everything is filed and ready for tax time. My kids are home on break so they’re helping - they love using the shredder 😉. We’re also working away at taking down Christmas decor too. Slow and steady, little by little - that’s how real decluttering happens. Be easy on yourself and do a little everyday this month and you won’t believe how much you’ll accomplish! Grab you FREE printable checklist at the link in my profile and get started! #freeprintable #cleanmama #clutter https://www.cleanmama.net/2018/12/the-clutter-challenge-week-1-declutter-jumpstart.html

First before and after of 2018! A former client of mine gifted my services to help with her mom’s quilting space. This avid quilter was frustrated by not being able to fully enjoy the space - the goal was to declutter non-quilting related items; create zones for fabric, ongoing projects, and tools; and create a space that enhanced workflow - all in four hours! We decluttered and reorganized the closet; removed all tripping hazards from the floor to create a more user-friendly and lighter, brighter space; changed the cutting table from a clutter magnet to a work surface; hung tools on the wall to avail of vertical space; and even played around with the desk position. This space shows what you can do with a small budget (no new items were purchased - everything achieved was through decluttering & reorganizing, and using items on hand) and a very motivated client. Remember, you don’t need to buy Organizing products to improve your space; the last pic shows the storage containers no longer needed when we were done!
In 2019, may you say no to commitments to allow you to enjoy the ones that matter. Say no to clutter to allow time spent with loved ones instead of organizing and decluttering. Say no to stuff and yes to experiences. Say no to ‘for now’ solutions and yes to long-term fixes. Say no to tv to make room for reading (like @abbijacobson’s book ‘I Might Regret This’ that inspired this post). Say no to anything that isn’t right for you to make room for what is. Wishing you strength and contentment in 2019.
Sending positive vibes.
Declutter these bad guys of the season and live in the moment. Enjoy the peace, the simple pleasures, and all that the season has to offer.
Be brave and go forth.
This is what separates the major players from the amateurs! For this one you have to be comfortable having uncomfortable conversations and setting boundaries - what’s cool with you and what’s not cool with you. It’s not cool with me to keep items I don’t want or need in my house to manage another adult’s emotions.
