After a successful career as a high school English teacher I was ready for a change! I decided to give in to my innate need for order by pursuing professional organizing.
A self-proclaimed 'enough-ist', I am a new mom, and am renovating an 80-year-old home. I am incurably curious, and am on a quest to overcome perfection paralysis!
I hold an M. Ed. in Counselling Psychology, as well as Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees through Memorial University; and a post-graduate diploma in Information Management from the College of the North Atlantic. I am a certified ADHD Student Coach, and am one of two certified facilitators in Newfoundland & Labrador of Calm and Connected: Parenting Kids with ADHD and/or Executive Function Challenges© - a 7-session parent coaching workshop series focused on ADHD.
I am a Trained Professional Organizer with Professional Organizers in Canada (POC). As a POC member, I am committed to professional excellence, and adhere to a strict code of ethics. I attend regular POC chapter meetings where the latest organizing industry trends, techniques, products, and practices are shared by industry leaders.
Via the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD), I have completed extensive training in the underlying issues that lead to disorganization, including hoarding disorder (click here to see complete hoarding training). From ICD, I have also received a Chronic Disorganization (CD) Specialist Certificate, a Hoarding Specialist Certificate, and an Aging Specialist Certificate as well as Certificates of Study in Life Transitions, Time Management & Productivity, Chronic Disorganization, Basic Hoarding Issues with the CD Client, Basic ADD Issues with the CD Client, Basic Mental Health Conditions and Challenges, Basic Physical Conditions and Challenges Affecting the CD Client, Understanding the Needs of the Aging CD Client, CD Client Administration, Understanding the Needs of the Student CD Client, Interpersonal Intelligence, and Learning Styles and Modalities. In 2015, I participated in Hoarding: Train the Trainer offered by the Canadian Mental Health Association - Newfoundland and Labrador in partnership with Newfoundland and Labrador Housing. In October, 2018, I completed the Hoarding Training Institute run by Metro Housing Boston, led by Jesse Edsell-Veter, a world expert in hoarding interventions.
I am also a Certified Staging Professional.
